ArboShield™ -YV
Yellow Fever Virus
ArboShield™ takes advantage of two key insect qualities:

Physiological: Insect viruses can be persistently sustained both vertically (parent to an offspring) and horizontally (between organisms) in the mosquito lifecycle.

Immunological: Persistently infected insects are “immune” to a second infecting virus of the same family, a phenomenon known as “superinfection exclusion”.

ArboShield™ Biocontrol Agents

We Vaccinate the Vectors

It took Arboviruses (insect viruses) millions of years to evolve to cross species and replicate effectively in vertebrates (mammals). By identifying the genetic and biological factors that enabled these viruses to infect, replicate, and spread between species we have engineered a harmless a host-restricted (HR) symbiont against, ArboShield™, which replicates normally in insects, but replicates poorly, or not at all in vertebrates. ArboShield™ persistently infects mosquitoes are produced by Vacunax for egg or larvae deployment to geographic areas where pathogens are causing disease, creating a “vaccinated” non-pathogenic mosquito population that acts as a fire-wall against disease. Mosquitoes become our allies in stopping pathogen spread and eradicating disease.
